1962 Epiphone Coronet

The relatively simple crown, Coronet! For your consideration a 1962 Epiphone Coronet in a Cherry finish! The Coronet first appeared on the scene in 1959 made by Epiphone under the Gibson brand. Initially it was introduced as a reliable entry level guitar, with the Wilshire and Crestwood being their progressively more intricate models. These days they are coveted for their stream lined design. It’s all utility and function which is perfect for plugging and turning up!

Specs! This guitar is in good condition. It has had a refret. At one point the body was damaged where the potentiometers are housed, it has been repaired. One knob is missing its reflective top. There is a decent gouge on the lower horn. Pick guard has warped. Finish wear on the top where your arm rest. Player wear on the back, buckle rash and dents. Nice finish checking on back and neck. Three to a plate Kluson Deluxe tuners. Nut width measures 1-11/16″. Mahogany neck with a depth of .80″ at the first fret and .90″ at the twelfth fret. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with a 12″ radius. It has a 24.75″ scale length. It was refretted with 22 Jumbo frets that are currently in ok condition. All mahogany body finished in Cherry. Top repair where the knobs are. Original P-90 pick up with original wiring. Nickel wraparound tail piece. Comes with a non-original hard shell case. Weighs 5 pounds and 15 ounces.

The Coronet is the humble king of rock guitars! Very reminiscent of a Les Paul JR. The symmetrical horns and pick guard are just too cool. Beautiful finish checking on the back and up the neck. Great feeling vintage neck. The Brazilian rosewood fingerboard reminds you why this was the wood of choice for so long, feels fantastic. Vintage P-90 in the bridge is bright and articulate. The weight is awesome, at just under 6 pounds your sure to be able to rock the night away with ease! These symmetrical Epiphones are always a shop favorite, straight forward rock and roll machines!
