Everything’s bigger in Texas! For your consideration a 1966 Epiphone FT79 Texan! Most famously this model was play by Paul McCartney on the recording and live performance of Yesterdays. Kurt Cobain also used this model on the 1994 In Utero tour. Even Jimi Hendrix said this was one of his favorite guitars! First produced in 1942 at Epiphones New York factory. Once Gibson procured Epiphone they were built in the Kalamazoo factory from 1957 till 1970. The Texan is a special dreadnought that guitarist just cant seem to put down.

Specs! Nickle 3 plate Kluson tuners. Nut width measures 1-9/16″. Mahogany neck with a depth measuring .82″ at the first fret and 1.08″ at the twelve fret. Scale length 25.5″. Rosewood fingerboard. Action measures 5/64″ straight across. Parallelogram inlays. Original 20 frets. Spruce top with mahogany back and sides. Sunburst top. The rosewood reverse belly bridge has been reglued. It has a new bridge plate. Original adjustable saddle. Weighs 4 pounds and 6.5 ounces. Comes with a newer hard shell case.

When you see guitarist from all sorts of genres (pop, blues, grunge!) gravitating towards this model, you know theres something special going on. This Texan is a great rhythm guitar. Crisp and punchy chords. You could defiantly lay down some rad rhythm tracks. Fast slim neck. Would make an awesome stage guitar! Epiphones always have tons of mojo and this ones no exception!
