Up for sale is a 1937 Epiphone Electar electric guitar in its original sunburst finish. The 1930s era Epiphone Electar is a significant instrument in guitar history as it's considered one of the earliest electric guitars, specifically designed as an electric instrument rather than an acoustic conversion. Epiphone introduced the Electar in 1935, and the 1937 version is particularly notable for its improved features, including the addition of two tone controls. The Electar was Epiphone's response to Gibson's early electric instruments, with the Electar Spanish model beating Gibson to market. Weight: 7lbs. 9oz.
This particular example is in very good condition showing signs of finish wear, play wear, dings / dents, etc. All to be expected for a nearly 90 year old instrument. This pickup and electronics and are functional and although the design is primitive, the guitar plays well and sounds nice. Comes complete with its original hard case which is in fair / rough condirion
