In an attempt to break into the booming acoustic market of the 1960s, Fender created the Kingman. If the checkerboard binding and rosette reminds you of some vintage and limited edition Rickenbackers, that's no coincidence! Fender hired German luthier Roger Rossmeisl, who had designed the ever-iconic 4001 bass and the 300 series models for Rickenbacker, to design the Kingman. A few reissue Kingman models have rosettes that are reminiscent of this, but you won't see a current model with this checkerboard binding. Aside from that cool little piece of history, this guitar features a Spruce top with Rosewood back and sides, a Rosewood fingerboard, and Rosewood bridge with adjustable saddles.
