This amp is rumored to have been modded at S.I.R. in LA, but we have no way to confirm that. It has a "Jose" style mod (an extra triode gain stage between the input and original first gain triode), a post phase inverter master volume, various switched preamp components and replaced phase inverter coupling caps (all of which have been painted with the values scratched off). An IEC power cable jack has also been installed. This a 100 watt chassis in a 50 watt head shell, so there are various mods to the head shell to make the chassis fit. All of the work is clean and professional. The transformers are original.
If you're looking for that '80s modded Marshall sound, this one HAS IT. Lots of gain on tap, with a master volume circuit to reduce ear bleeding. The noise floor is very respectable, especially for a high gain amp. Recently inspected and given a clean bill of health at Amphead here in Portland. Make your rock'n'roll dreams come true!
