ABOUT FENDER TBX AND MDX CIRCUITS:

TBX (Treble Bass Expander) is a special stacked 250k/1M passive tone pot with a center detent.  From 0–5 it behaves like a normal tone control.  Past the detent it changes the filtering so that more highs and overall presence come through, widening the usable range compared with a standard Strat tone knob.

MDX is the name Fender originally used for its Active Mid‑Boost Circuit, first seen on the early‑1980s Elite Stratocaster and later associated with the Eric Clapton Strat.  The MDX/Mid‑Boost is a battery‑powered preamp that boosts mids (and overall output) by roughly 12–25 dB depending on version, pushing single‑coil pickups toward a thicker, humbucker‑like response while still retaining some Strat character.

NOTE TO OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS:

We want you to be happy with your purchase and we try to represent the condition of all used and vintage guitars as accurately as possible in our listings.  Every used guitar shows some signs of play wear and vintage models even more so.  We call out all areas of damage or unusual wear, and describe the overall condition based upon what is "normal" for the age of the instrument.  Expect to see minor dings, finish checking, or other evidence of normal use and aging which may not be captured by photography or explicitly mentioned in the listing.

We recognize that everyone has their own personal standard of what constitutes acceptable wear and tear.  If play wear is especially critical for you, please message us via Reverb to ask any questions you may have before making a purchasing decision.  Your satisfaction is of paramount importance to us.
