The Gibson J-100 Xtra is a Super Jumbo acoustic guitar, introduced around 1991, that is based on the classic 1930s Gibson SJ-100 but without the extensive ornamentation of the more expensive J-200 model. It features a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides, to produce a large, balanced, and warm tone. The J-100 Xtra was designed to offer the premium tone of the J-200 without the higher price tag, making it a popular and highly-regarded instrument.
