Freshly inspected and set up in-house by our esteemed Guitar Tech. In Excellent condition with modest wear for an instrument of this age, including light scratches and minor signs of handling and use. Preston Thompson guitars are legendary, and this 12-Fret 000 model with a beautifully grained Brazilian Rosewood back lives up to that reputation. We are told that the Brazilian Rosewood for this guitar was salvaged from a shipwreck off the north coast of Brazil in early 2000s. Once submerged on the ocean floor, it has now been given new life as a musical instrument. We love that. See below for more details and specifications.
FROM PRESTON THOMPSON:
From our workshop in the music-loving town of Sisters, Oregon we build custom guitars and standard models based on the best American made guitars from the 1930’s. The choice of Grammy-winning flatpick and fingerstyle guitarists alike, Preston Thompson Guitars are among the best acoustic guitars available anywhere, renowned for superior tone, craftsmanship and materials.
Discovered by bluegrass virtuosos Charles Sawtelle and Peter Rowan in the 1980s, Preston Thompson built a reputation for handmade, original vintage style guitars based closely on the measurements and sound quality of those golden era steel string guitars.

NOTE TO OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS:
We want you to be happy with your purchase and we try to represent the condition of all used and vintage guitars as accurately as possible in our listings. Every used guitar shows some signs of play wear and vintage models even more so. We call out all areas of damage or unusual wear, and describe the overall condition based upon what is "normal" for the age of the instrument. Expect to see minor dings, finish checking, or other evidence of normal use and aging which may not be captured by photography or explicitly mentioned in the listing.
We recognize that everyone has their own personal standard of what constitutes acceptable wear and tear. If play wear is especially critical for you, please contact us at the Shop for a complete in-hand description and to answer any questions you may have. Your satisfaction is of paramount importance to us.
